DOWNTOWN COMMUNITY GAS LEASE

Downtown Fort Worth, Inc. has begun an initiative that is intended to result in a community lease for mineral rights. A number of well sites capable of drilling the Barnett Shale beneath Downtown have been secured, and Downtown property owners have been approached about leasing their minerals to drilling companies.

Following the lead of neighborhood groups that have demonstrated success in creating community leases that address both neighborhood concerns and those of the drilling company, DFWI has begun an outreach program to Downtown property owners.
