2009 MAIN ST. a Big Success

20 Apr 2009

The 2009 MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival was a big success, even though rain dampened our Thursday evening and Friday morning.  Fortunately, Thursday's afternoon crowd was fantastic, Saturday afternoon and evening were large and Sunday's attendance may well have been an all time high.

We cannot say enough about how grateful we are to our sponsors and the hundreds of volunteers who produce the event.  One artist I spoke to had this to say: "I travel all over the country doing these art festivals, and no festival comes even close to how well we are treated here.  Thank you!  And please thank the block captains and volunteers who have made this show one of my best!"

Much of MAIN ST.'s success is due to the quality of artists we attract.  Sales are a big factor in their decision apply (we are currently ranked #3 in the nation for sales) but so is how the artists are treated.  Jay Downie has continually improved how MAIN ST. artists are served, and feedback from this year's participants tells us that we are on the right track.

For the hundreds of thousands who attended this weekend, MAIN ST once again hosted their downtown visit in grand style.  Be on the lookout for news of our plans for the 25th annual MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts festival in 2010.
