The Lone Star International Film Festival
The Festival hosted by the Lone Star Film Society, is a year round series of programs culminating in a five day celebration of cinema in November. The festival was created in 2007 to showcase artistically and culturally significant films and to provide educational forums for both filmmakers and enthusiasts to learn more about the art and business of cinema. DFWI Quarterly Luncheon
It has been a memorable year in Downtown Fort Worth and we will explore a couple of the next steps in Fort Worth’s future at our December luncheon. Both the speaker, Charlotte Mayor Patrick McCrory, and the location, 714 Main, are extremely noteworthy. Mayor McCrory, who has a reputation as a dynamic speaker and receives rave reviews from audiences, will present "From Mayberry to Metropolis." Transit is a hot issue in downtown Fort Worth and this is your opportunity to learn more about it from a leader who helped create a nationally recognized transportation system in his city. The December luncheon will be held at 714 Main, the former Transport Life Building, which XTO Energy is restoring beautifully. This historic structure, built in 1921, was once the tallest building in Texas, and will soon be yet another showpiece for downtown Fort Worth. At the luncheon, you'll explore the building's interior and learn about the exceptional work XTO has done. Contact becky@dfwi.org for reservations.

Fort Worth Christmas Tree and Santa at Sundance
Want to meet the real Santa Claus? Plan a weekend visit to Santa at Sundance beginning Friday, November 27 (following the Sundance Square Tree Lighting Ceremony) through Tuesday, December 22. Kids can tug on his beard (not too hard, though) and tell him all their secret holiday wishes. The jolly old elf can be found in his enchanting Nutcracker home near the towering 52' Sundance Square Christmas Tree on Main Street between Third and Fourth streets. His bright red sleigh sits atop a colorful stage area that is guarded by a 10' Nutcracker Prince and Mouse King. The majestic Christmas tree, adorned with thousands of lights, colorful balls and sparkling snowflakes, serves as a perfect backdrop for photos. Friendly elves from the Fort Worth Sister Cities International Youth Program will take your picture for a $7 charitable donation. Hours are Fridays, 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays, 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Plus, extended Santa visits and photos "just in the St. Nick of time" Monday, December 21 and Tuesday, December 22 from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.
