Streetscape TeamA ten man crew with a foreman keeps the Downtown clean during the day and evening hours over the weekend. Their services include: - Pan and broom cleaning or mechanized vacuuming of over 2 million square feet of sidewalk. High pedestrian traffic areas are cleaned three or four times a day.
- Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, a three man crew is stationed in the high pedestrian traffic areas.
- The Downtown bus patron shelters are swept several times a day.
- A two man crew maintains the many grass areas in the public right of way during the summer. In the fall they remove leaves and in the winter they paint and maintain all of the City pedestrian light poles.
- Several hundred trees in the District are trimmed at least once a year, and the tree lights are repaired annually.
- The planter boxes are also cleaned routinely.
- The Streetscape team has 22 years experience setting up staging and sound systems for large and small special events in the Downtown.
- This crew also provides supplemental trash pickup from all of the District trash containers once a day Monday through Saturday
Night Mechanized Sidewalk Cleaning- A six man crew high pressure, hot water cleans or mechanically vacuums the sidewalks in the District daily, weekly and biweekly based on the need.
- Trash container pick up in high-use areas on Sunday.
- During the fall this contractor also vacuums leaves.
Street Sweeping- A separate contractor provides weekly or biweekly sweeping of 50 curb miles of streets in the District.
- Following special events and parades the contractor provides additional sweeping services to bring the streets back to their usual high level of cleanliness.
Landscaping- The Streetscape contractor provides blooms in the 13,000 square feet of planters in the District three times a year, which maintains those planters in year-round blooms.
- The Streetscape contractor provides constant maintenance of the irrigation system and plantings throughout the year.
Bird Abatement- The District utilizes two contractors to remove birds (especially grackles) during the fall and winter months.
