A main exit from Interstate 35W to downtown Fort Worth will be closed for about the next six months, Texas Department of Transportation officials announced this week.

The southbound exit to Spur 280 closed Wednesday night.

The on-ramp from Weatherford Street and Gilvin Street to southbound I-35W is also expected to remain closed for about six months.

Motorists driving south on I-35W can still take the Belknap Street exit into downtown.

The construction is part of the North Tarrant Express’s $1.4 billion overhaul of the highway from Interstate 30 in downtown Fort Worth to north of Loop 820. Daily lane closures are posted on the North Tarrant Express website a: northtarrantexpress.com.
