Downtown Fort Worth continues to attract potential hotel developers.

Coming before the city’s Downtown Design Review Board next month will be plans for a Hilton Garden Inn at 607 Jones St., If approved, the hotel will be adjacent to historic Mount Gilead Baptist Church.

Whitestone Hospitality Management LLC from Irving is the developer on the project which, as currently configured, will have 10 stories, 162 rooms, a fifth floor outdoor pool with a hot tub and bar; and indoor golf simulator; a restaurant and bar on the first level, a fitness room, and a business center. There will be 2,800 square feet of flexible meeting space in the hotel and 1,500 square feet of leasable space on the first level for a coffee shop or restaurant, according to DK Patel, president and chief development officer for Whitestone Hospitality.

McCalla Rios Architecture of Allen is the architect on the project.

The project on the Downtown Design Review Board’s October agenda, but was delayed until the Nov. 3 meeting. Patel said construction could start soon if plans get approved by the DDRB and the hotel could open in 2019.

Whitestone Hospitality has developed several other hotels in the area, including a Hampton Inn and Suites in Fort Worth near Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.
