S. Sean Madison, a community college leader from Florida, is replacing Tahita Fulkerson, the retiring president of Tarrant County College’s Trinity River Campus in downtown Fort Worth.

Madison, who has served in faculty and leadership positions at Miami Dade College and Broward College in Florida, was named to the post by TCC Chancellor Erma Johnson Hadley.

“The experience Dr. Madison has in strategic planning multiple areas and his involvement with initiatives that impact students completion rates will benefit students throughout Tarrant County College,” Hadley said in a press release. “I know he is the right person to continue to build upon and broaden opportunities for student success.”

Madison served as a tenured associate professor of English, chair for English and college preparatory studies and dean for academic and student affairs.

Madison was appointed to the American Association of Community College’s Commission on Research, Technology and Emerging Trends. He earned a bachelor’s degree in literature and English from Morehouse College. He earned a master’s degree in English from Boston University and a doctorate in higher education administration from Florida International University.

Fulkerson retires at the end of August after more than 34 years of working for TCC.
