Homelessness
Taking Care of Everyone
Homelessness is a big challenge in Fort Worth – one that we take very seriously. To help manage this problem, the PID partners with the Day Resource Center (DRC) to offer a homelessness outreach service for Downtown.
If you see a homeless person who needs assistance, the DRC will send an outreach team to help. This first responder service is designed to be an alternative to calling the Fort Worth Police Department. If you think police assistance is needed immediately, call 911.
When members of the outreach team arrive, they'll quickly assess the situation and determine whether a call to the police or EMT service is necessary. They'll stabilize the situation and identify the appropriate service providers. The team will also offer transportation to a primary referral site and suggest options for storing the individual's personal belongings.
For assistance, call the Day Resource Center at 817.810.9797 – Monday through Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
