Toy store headed to Sundance Square by Christmas

The owner of the Schakolad Chocolate Factory is bringing another fun business to Sundance Square in time for the holidays.

Lindsey Ross plans to open a 1,843-square-foot toy store called Houston Street Toy Company, between Five Guys Burgers and Fries and Overland Sheepskin Co., in December.

The store will feature high-quality toys and books for infants to teens, including games, puzzles, books, musical toys, plush animals, arts and crafts, and educational toys, Sundance Square announced.

“Bringing Houston Street Toy Company to life in Sundance Square has been a long-term goal, and I’m glad to see it coming to fruition,” Ross said in a statement. “We will open the store just in time for holiday shopping season and will offer kids a magical experience.”

A toy store is being added to attract a broader audience, Sundance Square said.

“Opening a toy store in Sundance Square fills a niche we believe will draw new customers,” said Johnny Campbell, president and CEO of Sundance Square. “We are always looking to add stores that will attract a savvy customer who enjoys a fabulous shopping experience.”

Schakolad Chocolate opened in 2003 at 106 E. Fourth St. It is part of a Florida-based chain that makes European-style chocolates.

Sundance Square is a 35-block development of shops, restaurants, offices and residences. Its latest addition, the popular H&M apparel store, opened April 7.
