Details
After the emancipation of slaves in 1865, African-American residence of Fort Worth established small businesses and churches. The community was served by several African-American businessman and doctors, including Dr. Riley Ransom, who opened a hospital in 1918.
A mural by artist Paula Blincoe Collins depicts Fort Worth so early African-American history.
