On Saturday, Sept. 20, Trinity Metro will be hosting its 6th Annual Bus Stop Clean-Up Day, an initiative that began as a way to engage local neighborhoods and build support for the agency’s Adopt-a-Stop program. What started as a small-scale effort has now grown into a citywide event that invites the entire community to help refresh and beautify bus stops across the region.

This year’s event features 23 volunteer teams with approximately 200 participants who will be cleaning and beautifying bus stops in our network between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. Teams gave themselves creative names, such as The Stop Spotters, Transit Transformers, and The Shine Line.

The event is more than just a clean-up—it’s a celebration of civic pride and a commitment to ensuring that public transit spaces are clean, safe, and welcoming for all. Volunteers will be wiping down benches, picking up litter, even cutting and trimming the grass to enhancing the overall rider experience.

“This is about more than just tidying up,” said Detra Whitmore, Vice President of Community Engagement at Trinity Metro. “It’s about showing our riders and our community that we care. Clean, well-maintained stops improve the customer experience and shows that we take pride in providing a great environment for our passengers.”
