North Texas’ Sundance Square is preparing for a bigger New Year’s Eve celebration with live music, street performers, fireworks, food trucks and more.

Organizers expect thousands of people to turn out. Last year, more than 40,000 people attended the festivities.

This year’s celebration is expanding and will run from 5 p.m. until 2 a.m.

“Every year the goal is to make it bigger and better,” said Sundance Square Music Director Gregory Newman. “Just like our Christmas tree somehow manages to get taller every single year, this New Year’s celebration is having more bands on the program than we’ve had in past years.”

Musical performances will include Quimikoz del Son, Big City Outlaws, Fusion Latina, Tonya Boyd Cannon and DJ Danny West.

At midnight, fireworks will launch from the Westbrook building, and the plaza will be the best place to view the show.

“You really have to be here to believe it. The energy in the air is incredible,” Newman said.
