‘Landman’ Shoot Turns Downtown Fort Worth Into a Set Again

If you walked into 61 Osteria this week expecting a quiet plate of carbonara and a glass of something bold, you might find yourself in the middle of a modern-day oil rush, instead. Not with hardhats and drilling rigs — but with cameras, production trucks, and Billy Bob Thornton’s gravelly voice floating somewhere between takes.
That’s because “Landman,” Taylor Sheridan’s West Texas oil-field epic, is back filming in downtown Fort Worth — turning the city into a temporary stand-in for a boomtown on the brink. And Fort Worth is no stranger to this notion. The Paramount+ series — a spin-off from the “Boomtown” podcast by Texas Monthly’s Christian Wallace — has already dropped in a couple of times this year, filming scenes back in April and again in May. But this week’s return (June 24–26) is shaping up to be the most ambitious yet, with street closures, big setups, and scenes unfolding across some of the city’s most visible blocks, according to Downtown Fort Worth Inc.
You’ll find crews staged at the Worthington Hotel and 61 Osteria, both of which are doubling as key locations for the second season. Filming stretches from early morning to late at night — 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. — and the footprint is wide. Fifth Street. Taylor. Lamar. Main. Houston. If you live or work downtown, you’ll see the signs. Literally.
But this isn’t just about blocked intersections or no-parking zones. It’s about the strange electricity that descends when a major production comes to town — the kind Fort Worth’s been getting used to in recent years, thanks in large part to Sheridan, the local-boy-turned-Hollywood heavyweight who’s helped redefine prestige TV through “Yellowstone,” “1883,” and now, “Landman.”
The show itself is equal parts oil-slick drama and frontier psychology. Thornton leads as Tommy Norris, a crisis manager navigating the grayest edges of the energy world. Demi Moore, Sam Elliot, Paulina Chávez, and a who’s-who cast help round out the ensemble. Season one — which premiered in November 2024 and wrapped in January — pulled in streaming numbers strong enough to warrant this second outing. Even Jerry Jones showed up for a cameo.
If all goes to plan this week, downtown Fort Worth will again become a canvas for that story, not dressed up or disguised, but as itself. “Landman” doesn’t hide where it comes from. That’s the Sheridan playbook. He writes Texas the way it lives: stubborn, sprawling, high-stakes. So when he films in Fort Worth, he lets the skyline show.
Police will be on hand to direct traffic. Most businesses plan to stay open. The street closures? They’re temporary. But for three days, the city gets to see itself not as a backdrop, but as a character — steady, complicated, unmistakably Texan.
