The blue buses are getting ready to roll: Trinity Metro, the regional transportation system, is about to launch the Blue Line, the free bus service in downtown Fort Worth, in early June.
The Blue Line will replace Molly the Trolley, the free trolley that has serviced downtown Fort Worth since 2009.
Molly the Trolley will cease operations at the end of service on Saturday, June 7. The first day of operations for Blue Line will be Sunday, June 8. The new line will offer daily service from 7 am-7 pm, with ultra-convenient service every 7 minutes — twice as frequent as Molly, which ran every 15 minutes. Riders can hop on and hop off whenever they’d like.
The route will connect to downtown shops, dining, and hotels. Selection destinations include the Fort Worth Convention Center, Fort Worth Water Gardens, and Sundance Square.
The Blue Line is the second of Trinity Metro’s color-coded bus routes; the Orange Line, which links downtown to the Stockyards and the north side, debuted in September 2024.
“Much like the Orange Line, Trinity Metro’s Blue Line will provide a necessary connection for residents and tourists to some of Fort Worth’s iconic destinations,” says Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker in a release. "The color-coded lines are very appealing for riders and the overall look raises the bar for an outstanding transit experience."
Trinity Metro president and CEO Rich Andreski says it won't end with blue. "We have more color-coded routes planned, and our Blue Line is the next step," he says.
Visit Fort Worth and Downtown Fort Worth, Inc., are funding partners for the Blue Line, making it free to ride year-round. It also offers connectivity to Trinity Metro's suite of connections that include buses, Trinity Metro TEXRail, Trinity Railway Express, and Trinity Metro Bikes at Fort Worth Central Station and Fort Worth T&P Station.
