Trinity Metro is joining public transportation agencies across the country in celebrating Transit Driver Appreciation Day on Thursday, March 18.

“Our drivers are the backbone of our transit agency,” said President and CEO Bob Baulsir. “Transit Driver Appreciation Day is an opportunity to honor our drivers for the exceptional work they do throughout the year. They are the face of Trinity Metro, and we are so proud of how well they represent us in the community.”

For many customers, a bus driver is the only person they will meet from a transit agency.

“Our drivers represent not only a reliable ride. They also represent someone who is a friendly face on a passenger’s regular route. Drivers also provide customer service by answering questions, providing directions and making sure passengers reach their destinations safely.”

At Trinity Metro, bus operators cover 6 million miles over the course of a year. That equates to 408,000 hours behind the wheel. ACCESS paratransit drivers spend 74,000 hours transporting customers across 1.3 million miles in a year.

Bus fun facts:

  • Trinity Metro’s fleet has 154 buses.
  • The 48 routes serve many locations, including all Tarrant County College campuses, TCU, Tarrant County courts and the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards.
  • Routes are served by 240 dedicated bus operators, 20 supervisors and 87 bus mechanic personnel.
