Downtown Street Resurfacing Project Update

June 10,2019

Reposted from FortWorthTexas.gov

The City of Fort Worth’s Transportation and Public Works Department (TPW) has a vision to transform the
downtown streets over the next four years through the PayGo program. Our PayGo contract is planned to
be issued at the beginning of each fiscal year until 2022. The typical contract schedule will have concrete
work beginning in January of each year with paving and pavement markings being completed in the
summer of each year.

The 2019 Downtown Street Resurfacing project is 65% complete in terms of concrete work. The Concrete
crews repaired 50% of the sidewalk, installed 70% of ADA ramps, and replaced 50% of concrete driveways
and curb and gutter. The program will facilitate pedestrian movement and promote disabled citizens
equality on the streets of Downtown Fort Worth.

The asphalt resurfacing is scheduled to begin in late June - be sure to stay tuned to our monthly updates
for more information. Downtown pedestrians and motorists are asked to be mindful of construction crews
working at the intersections. For questions about this project or to receive monthly project updates, please
contact Project Manager, Shammi Rahman at shammi.rahman@fortworthtexas.gov or call 817.392.6792.
