General Motors Financial Co. will be honored with the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce Chairman’s Spirit of Enterprise Award at the Chamber’s 135th Annual Meeting luncheon June 1 at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel. The company is the financial services arm for GM and is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

The award is the Chamber’s highest honor and recognizes a local company for significant contributions to Fort Worth’s development, the chamber said in a news release.

“GM Financial is a turbocharged part of Fort Worth’s economic engine,” Chamber President Bill Thornton said. “As one of the region’s major employers with international brand recognition and services, their history of growth, capital investment and commitment to our community has been extraordinary.”

With 9,500 team members worldwide and a global footprint that covers more than 85 percent of GM’s worldwide sales, GM Financial offers a broad range of auto finance solutions to 16,000 dealers and nearly 6 million consumers in more than 20 countries, the news release said.

Last year, GM Financial completed a $35 million expansion at its south Arlington campus where around 3,500 employees handle operations ranging from loan processing to IT. There are around 1,300 employees at the company’s newest Arlington location. Some 700 employees staff its downtown Fort Worth headquarters in Burnett Plaza.

“In Fort Worth and communities across the globe, the company has a long and deep legacy of service and support to numerous philanthropic organizations,” GM Financial President and CEO Dan Berce said in the release. “We support the communities where we live and work both through financial donations and volunteerism with our Signature Series supporting March of Dimes, United Way and Salvation Army in the U.S.”

The company presented Ronald McDonald House of Fort Worth a Cool Cars for Remarkable Kids vehicle May 30 to help address the mobility needs of visiting children and their families. About 30 vehicles will be distributed to Ronald McDonald Houses in Texas, Arizona, North Carolina and Michigan in 2017, all regions where the company has significant employment presence.
