Jubilee Theatre is bringing in the holiday season with a “story of healing”. The award-winning Theatre is ecstatic to present Lelund Durond Thompson’s and Michael Jason Webb’s The First Noel, on stage November 23 – December 23, 2018.
The First Noel is a heartwarming musical that flashes us back to Harlem in 1985 and follows three generations of a family affected by the tragic loss of a loved one. When an unexpected visitor turns things upside-down, they also provide long-absent joy just in time for Christmas. With a score infused with Gospel, Pop and re-imagined holiday carols and classics, “The First Noel” delivers the Christmas Spirit to audiences in a fresh, new way. The sound of today combines with the holiday nostalgia of yesterday, creating Jubilee’s answer to the perennial Holiday classic.

The First Noel is directed by Jiles R. King II, who shares that The First Noel “takes us on a journey of what it truly means to celebrate the spirit of Christmas”. Throughout the production, patrons will see “hope, joy, peace, restoration, redemption and love”.

With musical direction by Geno Young, the musical stars TaLayia Reed (The First Noel), Brooklyn Roberson (Young Noel), Rita Kotey (Adult Noel), Chimberly B. Carter (Deloris), Oris Phillips (Henry), Rhonda Francis (Ehhel), Kenja Brown (Lou), Jamall Houston (Skeeter), Gary Edwards II (Pastor Bennie), Nychelle Winters (Church Soloist), Zachary J. Willis (Kenneth), Brittany Jackson (Ethels Sisters), and Contessah Irene (Ethels Singers).

The remaining production team includes set design by Amy Poe, costume design by Whitney Coulter, technical direction by Jeffery Moffitt, lighting design by Jordan Smith, sound design by David Lanza, choreography by JuNene K. and stage management by Cherie Williams.
