Jubilee Theatre Presents Loften Mitchell's Bubbling Brown Sugar

Jubilee Theatre is ecstatic to present their first musical of the year!  Loften Mitchell’s Bubbling Brown Sugar will be on stage March 22 – April 28, 2019. Journey back in time to the Harlem Renaissance (1920-1940) when audiences flocked to the area’s popular nightclubs to see the greatest talents entertain. Artists like Cab Calloway, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, and Billie Holiday created a golden age of music with their exciting sounds and glamorous shows. You’ll jam, jump, and jive to this exuberant, three-time Tony-nominated musical revue.
Bubbling Brown Sugar is directed by Michael Serrecchia who shares this musical celebrates “the Golden Years of Harlem, its history, it’s great artists and its glorious music.” The hope for patrons is to enjoy, sing-along and even jive a little with the hit tunes! 
 
With musical direction by Sheila Walker, the musical stars a cast of nine actors, Genine Ware (Irene Page), Ausben Jordan II (John Sage), Jason Scott Hallman (Checkers), Preston Isham (Jim), Caitlin Jones (Ella), Christian Joelle Jones (Marsha), Kevin Davis Jr. (Ray), Bennie Adkins (Tony), Rita Kotey (Laura). 
 
The remaining production team includes scenic design by Ellen Doyle Mizener, costume design by Michael Robinson, lighting and sound design by Scott Guenther, choreography by Megan Kelly Bates, technical design by Allen Dean, stage management by Cherie Williams and assistant stage management by Aaron Butler. 
 
Bubbling Brown Sugar runs March 22 – April 28, 2019 at Jubilee Theatre, 506 Main Street, Fort Worth, TX 76102. Evening performances are at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday and 8:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Matinee performances are at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Press night is March 28, 2019 at 7:30 p.m.
