Need a job? Lockheed Martin is hiring 400 to 1,000 workers during September job fair

Lockheed Martin needs more workers.

As F-35 production continues to ramp up, the aeronautics company plans to hold a job fair in downtown Fort Worth later this month to hire between 400 and 1,000 new employees.

The fair will be between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, at the Sheraton Fort Worth, 1701 Commerce St.

This is one of several job fairs the company has held over the past year and a half — coming on the heels of one held July 30 — that have drawn several thousand job-seekers downtown.

“We’ve had great success with these events, indicating that the greater Fort Worth area has tremendous talent ready to support our military through the aircraft we design and build here,” Lockheed Martin spokesman Ken Ross said. “We continually assess our needs as production increases, with the goal of making sure we have the right talent in place at the right time.”

Company officials say they aren’t doing any pre-registration for this event, but they are “extending an open invitation” to anyone who meets the job descriptions being advertised.

Those job descriptions are low observable material coater, structural assemblers and electrical assemblers.

Workers with aerospace manufacturing or mechanical experience are preferred, Ross said.

Officials ask candidates to bring paper copies of their résumé with them to the job fair.

To prepare, Ross recommends going online to www.lockheedmartinjobs.com, reviewing job requirements for the positions available and creating an online profile.

“Applicants who review the specific job requirements to ensure they have the appropriate skills/experience and bring a current resume will be in the best position for an interview,” Ross said. “If applicants can take the time to complete the online profile, that will speed the process if they qualify for an interview.”
