Seventh Street Bridge Full Closure Begins June 7 at 8 PM

June 7,2013

Get ready for the upcoming full closure of the Seventh Street Bridge.

The contractor plans an extended closure of the bridge at 8 p.m. June 7, beginning the 150-day period that the contractor has to open the new bridge to traffic this fall. Crews will set the remaining arches and then begin bridge demolition.

The Seventh Street bridge project is constructing the world’s first concrete “thru-arch” signature bridge between downtown and the Cultural District. The Texas Department of Transportation designed the bridge with six arch spans across the Trinity River to improve safety and pedestrian/bicycle access. Over the past year, the new arches were built offsite to minimize impacts.

The original bridge was built in 1913 and needs replacement.

Additional information, including detour maps, e-alert subscription for lane closures and more, is available online.
