Sundance Square’s new downtown Plaza has been a huge hit since it opened seven months ago. So huge, Sundance said Wednesday it had created a new schedule to ensure that everyone gets to enjoy it the way they want to enjoy it.

The schedule creates specific times during the day when people can play in the jetted fountain, ensuring that frolickers don’t trample plaza users who want a more serene experience fountain-side or beneath the plaza’s 32-foot umbrellas.

The schedule:

10 a.m.-2 p.m.: Peaceful Period/Leisurely Lunch. “Get the day started with a cup of coffee and a newspaper. Grab lunch to-go from a nearby restaurant and enjoy the views of Sundance Square Plaza. The fountains are for viewing only during this time.”

2 p.m.-6 p.m.: Cool Down/Fountain Frolic. “Step on in and enjoy the water of the jetted fountain.” Continuing its existing policy: No bathing suits or diapers allowed.

6 p.m.-midnight. Tranquil Time. “Sweethearts take a stroll through Sundance Square while enjoying the lights, views and sounds of this beautiful city. The fountains are for viewing only during this time.”

“We have gotten enormous feedback about how guests like to use the plaza since its opening,” said Johnny Campbell, CEO of Sundance Square.

“We have so many distinct groups of people who come to the plaza at different times of the day for various purposes. Children and families, couples, visitors from all over the world, and of course, the people who work downtown everyday love to come to the plaza,” he said.
