These are the 5 best food and drink events in Fort Worth this week

There’s a little golf tournament happening in Fort Worth right now that locals lovingly refer to as "Colonial" — and one longtime West Fort Worth restaurant will celebrate the annual event with a special Saturday brunch. Additionally, not one, but two downtown crawfish boils add to the full plate of food and drink events this week. You can also kick off Memorial Day weekend with an elegant French wine dinner, then end it with an overnight stay at a luxury hotel that comes with dinner, a concert, and breakfast the next morning. 

Thursday, May 23
French Wine Dinner at Café Modern
Six courses and seven wines will make up this fantastically French fete, perfect for those who prefer classic French cooking technique and Old World wines. There’ll be Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Gamay Beaujolais, and Burgundy. Menu highlights range from goat cheese soufflé and escargot with bone marrow to steak bordelaise and dessert crepes with stone fruit and brie. The dinner is $115 ($99 for members) and starts at 6:30 pm.

Saturday, May 25
Colonial Brunch at Michaels Cuisine
Chef Michael Thomson knows how to throw a party, especially during the annual PGA tournament stop in Fort Worth. The West Seventh Street restaurant will serve comfort food favorites like chicken fried steak and eggs; huevos rancheros; eggs Benedict; and jerk chicken inspired by Rae’s Coastal Café in Augusta, Georgia, home of the Masters tournament. Don’t miss the Colonial Fairway frozen margarita, made with jalapeño and mango. Brunch will be served from 10 am to 4 pm.

Crawfish Boil at Cowtown Brewing Company
The downtown brewery will host its inaugural crawfish boil all day. Get two pounds and a beer for $20, and listen to live music by the Squeezebox Bandits from 4-7 pm. The crawfish will be served from 11 am to 11 pm or until they run out.

Sunday, May 26
Crawfish Boil at Waters
It’s another patio party at the Sundance Square seafood restaurant, where chef Jon Bonnell will throw a fancy Fort Worth crawfish boil. Available by the pound for $10.50, the boil will come with Bonnell’s andouille sausage, potatoes, corn on the cob, crawfish, and Gulf shrimp. Reservations are recommended but not required. Visit from 2-6 pm.

Cowtown Unplugged: A Songwriter’s Showcase at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel
End the holiday weekend with a Texas-themed Sunday dinner for two, a concert, and an overnight stay and breakfast at the luxury downtown hotel. Cowtown Unplugged takes place just twice a year and features big-name songwriters in an intimate acoustic setting — Grammy winner Jim Lauderdale headlines this year’s event. The pre-show dinner, reserved for “star package” holders, includes smoked buffalo brisket, pork spare ribs, and spice-rubbed chicken, along with grilled vegetables, baby bibb wedge salad, mini cornbread sliders, and much more.

All ticket packages, which start at $199, include overnight accommodations for two, two tickets to the show, and a breakfast for two. Dinner is included with the $349 package and begins at 6 pm, with the show starting at 8 pm.
