7 Ways to DO Downtown - Holiday Season 2020

Fort Worth Blog  -  Posted on 12/15/20

'Tis the season! Downtown is always magical this time of year, and 2020 is no exception! Get into the holiday spirit with our list of things to DO:

Enjoy a Festive Treat

Pumpkin spice, Peppermint, Gingerbread...you name it! Warm up with a holiday drink from coffee shops like Buon Giorno and Vaquero Coffee Co. Pair it with a treat from Funkytown Donuts & Drafts or a a festive scoop from Melt Ice Creams!

See the Sights

Stroll our city sidewalks and enjoy the sights! Many buildings are dressed up in holiday style, and of course you can't miss the 2020 Fort Worth Christmas Tree in Sundance Square Plaza. This year's 55-foot Blue Spruce evergreen hails from Michigan and is decorated with over 12,000 white LED lights. The tree will shine nightly from 6 to 11 PM through January 6, 2021. Sundance Square Plaza remains closed to the public, but you can still snap your photos with the tree from the surrounding sidewalks.

Cross everyone off your holiday gift list

Have some shopping to do? Check out the variety of stores here in Downtown and Sundance Square to check off everyone on your list and support local businesses!

Eat, Drink & Be Merry

No matter where you are celebrating the holidays this year, our Downtown restaurants are happy and ready to serve you! Make your reservations or plans for pick-up from any of our many amazing restaurants today.

Skate through Panther Island Ice

Strap on your skates for Panther Island Ice! Located near Downtown at the Coyote Drive-In, Fort Worth's outdoor skating rink offers public skating seven days a week through January 18, 2021, including all holidays. New this year: All tickets must be purchased in advance online.

Experience Texas Ballet Theater's The Nutcracker

Though no performances will be taking the stage at Bass Hall, Texas Ballet Theater has still found a way to have visions of sugar plums dance in your head! Through December 26, the filmed production of The Nutcracker can be enjoyed directly on the company’s website from the comfort of your home this year. Digital tickets are $30 and also include access to a new, 30-minute version of The Nutty Nutcracker, the company’s popular annual spoof.

We know enjoying dinner and a show Downtown during the holiday season is a beloved tradition for many. Keep the traditions going from home by ordering a pick-up or delivery from one of our restaurants!

Watch the GM Financial Parade of Lights Broadcast

Speaking of keeping up with traditions - did you catch the 2020 GM Financial Parade of Lights broadcast? This Fort Worth favorite was reimagined for 2020 as a virtual broadcast, featuring musical artists, highlights of hometown heroes, a dirty car artist, and of course - the parade’s fantastic floats! The full production is now available to watch on Facebook and YouTube. You can also catch a second airing on TXA-21 on Christmas Eve, December 24 at 7pm.
