FWDNA Raises Funds for the YMCA Playground

December 12,2019

This holiday season, the Fort Worth Downtown Neighborhood Alliance (FWDNA) partnered with the Amon G. Carter, Jr. Downtown YMCA to raise funds to support playground improvements at their childcare center. The Downtown YMCA serves over 300 children ages six weeks to five years each year between the two preschools and summer day camp programs.

The FWDNA recognizes that a key component of child development occurs through play, interacting with others, and experiencing nature. This group of Downtown residents is helping to raise $40,000 to provide a high quality play experience for these children. This fundraising goal provides the replacement of wood chips with a softer, rubberized flooring, a safer playground structure, and an improved shade structure to increase protection from the sun and rain. The FWDNA raised over a quarter of that goal over the past two months, with a special thanks to one generous Downtown resident providing a $10,000 donation in November.
