Oncor Electric Delivery Co. is making a big move in Fort Worth.

The Texas utility firm has signed one of the biggest office leases so far this year in downtown Fort Worth.

Oncor is taking 200,000 square feet of offices in the 777 Main tower, according to filings with the state.

The new office will take up seven floors of the skyscraper and will cost more than $8.5 million to build out, according to building permits on file with the city.

The new Oncor office will replace the utility’s longtime Fort Worth location at on West 7th Street.

“We are preparing to relocate our Fort Worth employees from our current Electric Service Building to the 777 Main St location,” Oncor’s Kerri Dunn said in an email. “While the Electric Service Building has served us well for more than 30 years, Oncor’s continued growth and business needs require a larger, more efficient workspace that will better support our current and future employees.

“We look forward to moving into the new location and continuing our commitment to Fort Worth and the 10 million Texans we serve across our service territory.”

Oncor will become one of the largest tenants in the 777 Main tower, which is owned by Atlanta-based Brookdale Group. Transwestern leases the building.

The more than 1 million-square-foot office high-rise is one of the largest in Fort Worth.
