Branch & Bird is finally the high-rise skyline restaurant and bar we all wanted.

The 12th-floor restaurant in the new Frost Tower downtown impressed everyone last summer with the drinks and views. But the menu was simpler than diners expected.

Now, the restaurant serves dinner nights Tuesdays through Saturdays, with Sunday brunch once a month.

New dinner platters include a small beef filet, coriander-and-brown-sugar-crusted pork, a pasta and a fish of the day.

A new menu of dinner salads includes a mango-jicama-papaya chopped salad or a Sriracha hot chile shrimp salad.

Finally, there’s a burger, made from all-natural Burgundy Pasture Beef.

The regular menu of flatbreads and salads has been extended to include tacos, elk tostadas and “deconstructed” banana-leaf tamales.

Branch & Bird is pitched as “cocktails and cuisine with a view.”

The contemporary decor is sleek and handsome, but it’s not a fancy restaurant. It’s an easy-going, casual place to meet or take friends for a weekday lunch, happy hour or dinner overlooking the skyline.

Brunch returns April 14, the weekend of the Main St. Fort Worth Arts Festival, and continues the second Sunday of every month.

For now, Branch & Bird is open for lunch Mondays; for lunch and dinner Tuesdays through Fridays; for dinner Saturday nights; and for brunch one Sunday each month. Opening time is 7 a.m. weekdays at at 640 Taylor St. (take the elevators up from the bank lobby); 682-785-8888branchbirdfw.com.
