Entertain the fam with Sundance Square's seasonal sips and shows

So you're hosting family for the holidays, but how are you going to keep them entertained? Two words: Sundance Square. There are more than 25 options for dining and drinking, not to mention a plethora of arts and culture events to satisfy even the pickiest person in your group.
Take, for example, If Scrooge Was a Brother at the award-winning Jubilee Theatre. It's Christmas Eve and Eb Scroo is seeking to snuff out the season's cheer by demanding all debts owed him be satisfied before nightfall. Facing imprisonment and a Christmas without presents or a feast, the residents are desperate. In this urban spin on Dickens' A Christmas Carol, the ghosts and characters are icons of black culture performing gospel, R&B, and even reggae songs. It runs through December 22.
Texas Ballet Theater is also back with The Nutcracker. In this most magical Christmas tradition, Clara and her Nutcracker Prince battle an army of mice and travel through a winter wonderland to meet the Sugar Plum Fairy in the Kingdom of Sweets. Exquisite costumes and dazzling choreography will transport you to a world where dreams do come true. It performs December 13-29 at Bass Performance Hall.
For exclusive holiday cocktails, head to Bird Cafe and sample a Salted Caramel Brandy Alexander, made with brandy, crème de cacao, and salted caramel ice cream. You could also sip on the Charred Rosemary Poinsetta, made with prosecco, pomegranate, and rosemary, or the Peanut Butter Hot Toddy (peanut butter whiskey with lemon, honey, and spice). Need a little pep before the performances? Order the Black Walnut Irish Coffee, a concoction of Irish whiskey, Irish cream, coffee, and black walnut bitters topped with hand-whipped cream.
If you're dining at Waters, you can opt for something a little more traditional with a Cranberry Apple Mule. It's made with Dripping Springs vodka, fresh lime juice, orange bitters, ginger beer, apple slices, and fresh cranberries.
If you're seeking something with a little more kick, Razzoo's is the ticket. It serves the memorable Holiday Toast, with RumChata, Fireball, milk, pumpkin spice, cinnamon, and whipped cream. The N'Awlins Nog is reminiscent of the dessert Bananas Foster, with Kraken spiced rum, real banana puree, milk, dashes of pumpkin and nutmeg spice, cold-press espresso, and a cinnamon sugar rim. It can also be made non-alcoholic if you wish.
