Santa Claus is Coming to Sundance Square
Reposted from Sundance Square
Just in time to get in the spirit of the holidays, jolly old St. Nick will be arriving in Sundance Square on Saturday, November 23 for the official tree lighting ceremony powered by Green Mountain Energy. Undeniably one of the best in Texas, the tree lighting festivities will begin on the 23rd at 6:00 pm. Kids Who Care, a non-profit international theatre company, will be performing at this year’s tree lighting.
Santa Claus will be prominently featured in his magical sleigh on the Sundance Square Plaza stage, which will be transformed into a winter wonderland with a dramatic silver fabric backdrop. The entire plaza will feature large, brilliantly lit sculptures as settings for photos with family and friends.
Santa will be ready for kids of all ages to tell him exactly what they dream of seeing under the tree on Christmas morning. There’s no waiting in long lines to see Santa with Sundance Square’s virtual system. Upon arriving in Sundance Square Plaza, simply check in at Santa’s Sleigh, provide a mobile telephone number and then shop, eat, and have fun until a text is received confirming it is time to see Santa.
A visit and photo with Santa are available for $20 and all proceeds will once again benefit the Fort Worth Sister Cities’ Youth Program. Santa’s schedule begins on Saturday, November 23 through Sunday, December 22 during the following days:
Friday/Saturday/Sunday – 11 am to 9 pm
Wednesday/Thursday – 2 pm to 9 pm
During the week of Thanksgiving, Santa will be available Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 2 pm to 9 pm. On Thanksgiving Day, Santa will be back at the North Pole checking his list twice. Visit www.sundancesquare.com for weather related changes.
Nearly 10,000 LED lights will illuminate this year’s Christmas tree which will be powered by 100 percent renewable energy from Green Mountain Energy. Sundance Square is expecting approximately 1.2 million visitors during the holiday season beginning with the tree lighting and continuing through New Year’s Day.
“Green Mountain Energy’s commitment to provide renewable energy in the Dallas-Fort Worth area extends through the holidays, and we are happy to brighten a winter season favorite for families and friends to enjoy,” said Mark Parsons, vice president and general manager at Green Mountain Energy. “Sundance Square is a testament to what is possible when an organization chooses cleaner energy and in doing so, leads the way for other organizations to adopt sustainability practices to benefit the environment.”
