Events in and around Fort Worth this weekend will cater to many different interests, as they usually do. There will be two unusual theater productions, a small-scale classical concert, a screening of an Oscar-worthy new film, two holiday-themed events, a classic movie backed by a live symphony, the anticipated opening of a new arena, the football game of the year in Fort Worth, and the opening of fantastic new art exhibit.

Thursday, October 24
GFour Productions presents Menopause: The Musical
Four women at a lingerie sale have nothing in common but a black lace bra and memory loss, hot flashes, night sweats, not enough sex, too much sex, and more. This hilarious musical parody set to classic tunes from the ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s will have guests cheering and dancing in the aisles. The production will run at W.E. Scott Theatre through November 16.
Theatre Wesleyan presents Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play
After the collapse of civilization, a group of survivors share a campfire and begin to piece together the plot of The Simpsons episode "Cape Feare" entirely from memory. Seven years later, this and other snippets of pop culture have become the live entertainment of a post-apocalyptic society, sincerely trying to hold onto its past. Mr. Burns, playing at Thad Smotherman Theatre on the Texas Wesleyan University campus through November 3, is an animated exploration of how the pop culture of one era might evolve into the mythology of another.
The Cliburn presents PUBLIQuartet
Founded in 2010, the award-winning group PUBLIQuartet has rapidly made its mark on the classical scene. Their genre-bending programs span the classical canon and also feature open-form improvisations that expand the techniques and aesthetic of the traditional string quartet. They will perform at Scat Jazz Lounge.

Magnolia at the Modern: Judy
Thirty years after starring in The Wizard of Oz, beloved actress and singer Judy Garland (an astonishing Renée Zellweger) arrives in London to perform sold-out shows at the Talk of the Town nightclub. While there, she reminisces with friends and fans and begins a whirlwind romance with musician Mickey Deans, her soon-to-be fifth husband. There will be seven screenings through Sunday at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.
Ramblers Media Productions presents Catrina
Ramblers Media Production will present Catrina, a multicultural event dedicated to Las Catrinas, Day of the Dead, and the culture that surrounds it. Catrina will feature more than 50 vendors, a themed art exhibit, live music, a Catrina contest, altar contest, mariachis, and more. The event, taking place at Hacienda Vista Bella, is only for guests 21 and over.
Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra presents Ghostbusters
Ghostbusters, director Ivan Reitman’s two-time Oscar and two-time Golden Globe-nominated film that stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Rick Moranis, will screen live as the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra performs Elmer Bernstein’s Grammy-nominated score and Ray Parker Jr.’s Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping theme song, “Ghostbusters.” There will be three performances through Sunday at Bass Performance Hall.

Dickies Arena Grand Opening and Community Open House
Dickies Arena will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony and community open house to formally welcome the community into the new arena. Immediately following the ribbon cutting ceremony, the arena will be open for self-guided tours; guests must register for the free tours in advance by visiting Ticketmaster.com. Throughout the day, there will be activities on the Simmons Bank Plaza, including Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live’s BIGFOOT, WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion Bayley, a Harlem Globetrotter, and a special presence from Cirque du Soleil. The first official event at the arena will be Twenty One Pilots on November 8.
Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra presents Halloween Spooktacular
Halloween Spooktacular is a Halloween concert full of delightful treats for the whole family. Guests are encouraged to wear their favorite costume and enjoy spooky favorites like The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Danse macabre, In the Hall of the Mountain King, Harry Potter, and much more. The concert will take place at Bass Performance Hall.
TCU Horned Frogs vs. Texas Longhorns
This has not been the most successful season for the TCU football team, but all of that can change in an instant if they beat the Texas Longhorns in the home game of the year for the Horned Frogs. TCU will be wearing unusual red-tinged uniforms to hype up the team and the fans in an effort to beat the No. 15 Longhorns, who have only lost to top 5-ranked LSU and Oklahoma. The game will be at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
Monster Jam
Approximately 12 feet tall and about 12 feet wide, Monster Jam trucks are custom-designed machines that sit atop 66-inch-tall tires and weigh a minimum of 10,000 pounds. Built for short, high-powered bursts of speed, Monster Jam trucks generate 1,500 to 2,000 horsepower and are capable of speeds of up to 100 miles per hour and can fly up to 125 to 130 feet in distance and up to 35 feet in the air. The trucks will be on display at AT&T Stadium.

Kimbell Art Museum presents Renoir: "The Body, The Senses" opening day
Over the course of his long career, Pierre-Auguste Renoir continually turned to the human figure for artistic inspiration. "Renoir: The Body, The Senses" is the first major exploration of Renoir's unceasing interest in the human form, and it reconsiders Renoir as a constantly evolving artist whose style moved from Realism into luminous Impressionism, culminating in the modern classicism of his last decades. The exhibition will be on display at Kimbell Art Museum through January 26.
